At Trustona Media, we create content that people love and search engines understand, operating a portfolio of online publications and YouTube channels for a variety of audiences.
We are looking for a full-time video editor with German comprehension to join our team and support video production across three of our brands:
- Coffeeness – The biggest blog and YouTube channel about coffee and coffee machines in Germany, with over half a million visitors each month.
- Privacy Tutor – A fast-growing German-language YouTube channel covering VPNs, online privacy and digital security.
- Cloudwards – A leading English-language publication and YouTube channel providing reviews, tutorials and news about cloud-based software, reaching over 1,000,000 visitors monthly.
About the Role
As our Video Editor, you will be responsible for editing longform YouTube videos and Shorts across our portfolio of brands. You’ll work closely with our existing production team, receiving raw footage, scripts and creative direction, then turning them into polished, publish-ready videos.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Editing longform YouTube videos (typically 10–25 minutes) including cuts, transitions, text overlays, b-roll integration and sound design.
- Creating YouTube Shorts and vertical video content from existing footage or dedicated recordings.
- Adding motion graphics, lower thirds, chapter transitions and on-screen text animations.
- Creating on-screen graphics like pros and cons tables, comparison charts, callouts and other visual elements.
- Recording occasional screencasts when needed (we have a dedicated screencaster, but sometimes you’ll need to capture screens yourself).
- Color correction and audio mixing to ensure consistent, professional output.
- Working with our reusable asset library and adapting templates across brands.
- Collaborating with the team via our project management and communication tools to meet publishing schedules.
This is a full-time remote contractor role. You’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, as long as you communicate regularly with the team and meet your deadlines.
Required Skills
- Strong German comprehension. You don’t need to speak German fluently, but you must be able to understand spoken and written German well enough to make informed editing decisions, since a large portion of the content is in German.
- Proficient in a professional video editing tool (Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or similar).
- Solid understanding of YouTube content editing: pacing, retention-driven editing, thumbnail-worthy moments, and platform best practices.
- Ability to create on-screen graphics such as pros and cons tables, comparison charts, callouts and other visual elements that support the content.
- Experience with motion graphics and text animations (After Effects or similar is a plus).
- Good ear for audio: ability to handle audio mixing, noise reduction and music/SFX integration.
- Fast and efficient. Speed matters in our environment. We publish a high volume of content across multiple brands, so you need to be someone who can deliver quality work quickly without getting bogged down.
- Ability to work independently, manage your own time and deliver consistently on a weekly schedule.
- Comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience editing tech review or product-focused YouTube content.
- Screencasting experience (OBS, Riverside.fm or similar recording/capture tools).
- Basic knowledge of color grading workflows.
- English language skills (helpful for Cloudwards content and team communication).
- Your own YouTube channel or portfolio of edited videos you can share.
